71st Golden Globe vs 20th Screen Actor Guild nominations

nom vs

So the major nominations are beginning to unravel, with SAG and Golden Globes to begin with. There are some noticeable differences between the SAG and Golden Globe nominations. So let’s point them out (see full list of nominations below).
Firstly, no nominations at all for The Butler at all on the Golden Globes… I’ve yet to watch it, but both Oprah Winfrey and Forest Whitaker have been popping up on lists and grabbing noms for their roles. No acting recognition for Adele Exarchopoulos for ‘Blue is the Warmest Color’ in either, or James Franco for ‘Spring Breakers. A pleasant surprise nomination for Greta Gerwig in Frances Ha!
Although I’ve not seen Rush, I’m fairly surprised it’s gained a ‘Best Picture’ nomination at the Globes. I shall make it a priority. Very interesting that Idris Elba and Chiwetel Ejiofor are both nominated in the TV and Film acting categories, particularly Idris for portraying Nelson Mandela. Very timely.
Disappointing that Game of Thrones and Homeland are entirely amiss at the Golden Globes.

What has surprised you? or disappointed you?
