After 10 years, I finally got to see British glam-rock band The Darkness perform in my home town last night in Portsmouth. After thrashing out some tracks from their albums ‘Hot Cakes’ and ‘One Way Ticket To Hell…. and Back’, they performed Mercury-nominated rock album of undeniable excellence, that is Permission to Land. In it’s entirety, from beginning to end!
They were awesome, and so were the support acts The Rivers 68’s, and Lost Alone. I realised how much Justin Hawkins reminded me of Russell Brand last night, in a comedy, perm haired sort of way. Permission is, and will always remain one of my all-time favourite albums. If you’re a Darkness fan, and haven’t seen them live – do it!
